Sunday Brunch

Playing with my Canon T5. I love this camera!
I don't think I've been fixated on mimosas in my life as much as I have been today. And for that I think that brunch at Halcyon will have to be routine. J and I have already set it in stone. I have honestly loved this place since I first discovered it 2 years ago during a trip to Bluestar on a random first Friday. But this brunch was a definite game changer. This is just another reason why I love living in downtown San Antonio. The culture here is so different within the 5 mile radius of Midtown. And while, yes, there are some rundown spots, I think the culture is enriching. Since 2007 downtown has become something of a phenomenon in terms of growth. It has spunk like some spots in Austin (speaking of there is also a Halcyon in downtown Austin), but it has a more old school feel - if that makes sense. From Midtown (where we reside) to Southtown, the restaurants are endless. It's no wonder that there's no HEB nearby. The closest grocer is Central Market which is still a ways down on Broadway, but still. I think the only thing missing here is a closer mini taco truck!!

First glass. I mean dollar mimosas should be downed fast, no?
The menu at Halcyon for brunch is small, but nonetheless satisfying and delicious. We decided on the chicken and waffles and the Southtown Hash. I'm not too sure about when the Happy Hour was but there's a certain time, I believe after noon, that mimosas are offered at $1, and you have the option of placing pineapple juice, grapefruit, among others in lieu of the typical orange juice.

Amazingness.
"Not so serious face".
Our Sundays, if I'm not working the morning, will often be spent with family. I took today's overcast as an opportunity to also take pictures of the shoes I bought J for Christmas. I've honestly never dropped this much on shoes, let alone for anyone. But this guy spoils me, so I thought why not. I'm not a complete sneaker head but I am in love with the Nike Flyknit Racers. The multicolors seem to be one of the most popular color ways and something I saw he was eyeing... for months. Size 9 happens to be in the range where it's harder to find a size. Low and behold.... I swear the knitting plays tricks on your eyes. Depending on the lighting the shoes may come out more warmer tones, then something colder in hue. Even the knitting sometimes seems to shift. These shoes were definitely with the couple hundred... haha.
I honestly wish I had multicolor racers. :'(
These shoes are like models. So easy to take pictures with.
