My Current Obsession

This is my last summer ever! My anticipated second year of physical therapy school will be the hardest yet and will be followed by a string of rotations that will roll into my third year. Needless to say, my youth is quickly escaping me and I've been approaching every day slowly. I've found myself with a abundance of sleep time despite work, a bit like storing more "sleep hours" in my sleep bank (unfortunately life doesn't work this way). Wouldn't it be so cool if I could hibernate all summer so I could literally not have to sleep come this fall?? 

Anyway, I have a confession to make... with a lot of hours to do whatever, I've been really into Kpop lately...

It's almost embarrassing to admit because I'm not the type of person who gets swayed totally into Asian pop culture. But here I am writing a whole blog about it!! Before I do go on, I do admit that there's only a particular amount of songs and artist I like. I've done my fair amount of youtube time wasting and I found out the YG's 2NE1 is my ultimate favorite! I literally love every single one of their songs, and I don't even understand a majority of the lyrics (they have some in English fair enough). Additionally I have a few songs I like from other artists, but 2NE1 is the only band I actually and genuinely love and would buy albums from or even go to concerts to. 

I got interested in 2NE1 after a friend of mine mentioned that Sandara Park was a member. For all you Filipinos, remember Sandara Park had a rise in popularity in the Philippines in the mid-2000's. I remember her as this cute actress/singer. Little did I know their music was so catchy! And to top it off, it doesn't sound like the typical Kpop girl band. It sounds more - westernized, and I mean that in a good way. They also have these wild crazy styles that I'm sure is close or at the same level as Nicki Minaj (maybe she gets her inspiration from the East!?). They have so many good songs, and it was so hard for me to pick one. But maybe you'll like their song "Lonely" as a starter. I picked this acoustic version because it shows more multi-dimensional style. They can be laid back artists too! Anyway, it's english translation also struck me deep.


A favorite song of mine that I've been totally into is Taeyang's (also from the same recording company, YG) I Need a girl. Such a cute song! Dara has an appearance as his love interest. I love the dancing in this video. I'm buying this song!
