The Rundown:
Texture: Both are creamy in texture. Mellow Wine more so than Pearlescent Pink (it does come off somewhat powdery). Pearlescent Pink also has some glitter and has a highlighter type of finish when applied.
Pigmentation: 4/5 Mellow wine is VERY nicely pigmented. It doesn't take much to give a pigmented application on the cheeks, even with darker skin tones. Pearlescent Pink is also pigmented, but the glitters down plays the color just a bit. Don't be fooled though, these two colors although looking similar, are actually very different in color. Pearlescent pink is lighter than the deeper Mellow Wine.
Application: I don't recommend using the brush that comes with it. In fact, through it away if possible!! The brush it comes with does not pick up product very well and it will end up looking patchy on your cheeks. Use a blusher brush for application, and you'll get good results. If you don't want it to be too pigmented use a light hand.
Wear: Mellow Wine stayed on my face ALL day until late at night (like real late... 3AM?) with a full face (foundation + powder) and a setting spray. Can you say WOW? I don't know about Pearlescent Pink staying long as I didn't have to opportunity for it to stay well over 6 hours, but what I can tell you was that it also has staying power.
Favorite Color of the two: Mellow wine. My decision is influenced mostly from preference though. I prefer matte finishes over iridescent ones, since my cheek bone structure already allows a lot of light reflection even with powder.
Overall Thoughts: I bought both of these blushes for only $2.99 at my local Walgreens. With the impressive staying power and pigmentation, I think it's a steal. Mellow Wine is perfect for darker toned skin. I would love though if it had sturdier packaging, in case I wanted to take it with me during the day. I don't feel confident with it staying in my purse, since the packaging is a little unforgiving in case I dropped my bag. I recommend these blushes. I'm looking forward to trying out some more!
Love,
Jacq
